4 colorful quilts as pretty as can be
1 covered (child’s name) and then there were 3!
3 colorful quilts with patches red and blue
1 covered (child’s name) and then there were 2!
2 colorful quilts made just for fun
1 covered (child’s name) and then there was 1!

Oh Me! Oh My!
At breakfast time milk spilled on my blanket
Oh me! Oh my!
Have to wash my blanket and hang it out to dry!
At lunch time, peanut butter got on my blanket
Oh me! Oh my!
Have to wash my blanket and hang it out to dry!
At snack time, banana smeared on my blanket
Oh me! Oh my!
Have to wash my blanket and hang it out to dry!
At dinnertime, spaghetti sauce dripped on my blanket
Oh me! Oh my!
Have to wash my blanket and hang it out to dry!
At bedtime, cookie crumbs dropped on my blanket
Oh me! Oh my!
Have to shake out my blanket,
No time to wash or dry!
I need my blanket, it’s time for beddy bye!
(would be good felt board poem)

Fuzzy Wuzzy Blanket
(Tune: Oscar Meyer Weiner song)
Oh I wish I were a fuzzy wuzzy blanket
That is what I’d truly like to be
‘Cause if I were a fuzzy wuzzy blanket
Everyone would snuggle up with me!

Sewing a Quilt
I have a needle (pretend to hold a needle)
And I have some thread (pull thread off a spool)
And I have a pair of scissors (pretend fingers are scissors)
To sew a quilt for my bed (pretend to sew)
Each piece of fabric
I’ll cut into a square (pretend to cut)
Then I’ll sew them together (pretend to sew)
To make a quilt for the fair! (pretend to hold up quilt)

Crafts:

  • Paper patchwork quilt: glue different shapes and colors of paper to make a patchwork "quilt."
  • Have each child decorate a paper quilt square and then put them all together to display.
